International Student Support Groups

There are many options for student support at UCSB, including groups specifically for international students. These are in-person support groups, a place to talk about your concerns.

  • Lunch Discussion Group
  • Mandarin Support Group
  • International Student Success Group

International Student Lunch Discussion

When: Every other Tuesday from 12:00-1:00
Where: OISS Conference Room, 3rd Floor Student Resource Building
Who: Everyone is welcome! Facilitated by CAPS counselor Junichi Shimaoka and OISS advisor Nicole Morgan.

FREE PIZZA! Come have lunch with us! Every other week the International Student Lunch Discussion Group meets to discuss topics of shared interest, or whatever is on your mind. Facilitated by CAPS Counselor Dr. Junichi Shimaoka and OISS advisor Nicole Morgan, this is a place to share your experiences, frustrations, and questions with others in a casual discussion setting. Conversation is casual, but sometimes we talk about issues that come up during the quarter, for example:

10/10   – (week 2) How to Adjust to UCSB and Connect with Other Students

10/24 – (week 4) How to Strategize for Academic Success

11/7   – (week 6) How to Manage this thing called “Stress”

11/21 – (week 8) Let’s Share Holiday Traditions across cultures

12/5 – (week 10) Let’s Get ready for the Finals and the Winter Break
