Congratulations on your acceptance to UCSB! You are about to begin a fast-paced academic adventure. UCSB is one of the top research universities in the world, challenging even for native English speakers. For international students, the challenge is even greater.

The month-long English Language & California Culture Summer Intensive is designed to help you meet this challenge while you begin earning academic credit. Participants are enrolled in "English for Academic Success"--two 3-unit sessions--to earn a total of 6 units of UCSB credit toward your undergraduate degree. You will be earn 6 credits before the Fall quarter begins, as you familiarize yourself with the UCSB campus community and learn to be a successful, confident student in a US university. This program is open to both undergraduate and graduate students.

Graduate students: This is undergraduate credit that will not apply towards your graduate program, but enrolling in this credit-bearing program will qualify you to enter the U.S. as early as July 17. Graduate students who will be able to move into campus housing during the program may opt out of the housing & meal fee if they have alternate housing. Questions?
