Writers' Cafe Workshop

There's more to writing than academic papers! The Writers' Cafe Workshop provides a space for you to share your creative writing in a supportive group environment. Come with your poems or short fiction to get feedback from your peers and other writers.

The Writers' Cafe Workshop meets every Wednesday from 4:00-5:00 pm beginning June 28. The workshop meets in the OISS Conference Room on the 3rd floor of the Student Resource Building. Bring a printed copy of the work you would like to share. You are welcome to come to any session, any week--this is not a class.

While housed at OISS, the workshop is not limited to international students. All are welcome--students, scholars, staff, and community, American or international. For international students, this workshop is a great opportunity to refine your English skills in a fun and creative way.

About the workshop facilitator: Chryss Yost served as Santa Barbara's Poet Laureate from 2013-15. She is the co-editor of Gunpowder Press, a poetry publisher based in Santa Barbara.

About the workshop: This is not an academic writing workshop, tutoring session, or an English class. We will not offer feedback on academic essays. This is a free, ungraded, supportive environment for people who enjoy writing and sharing their love of writing with others. Writers are welcome to share their work to get constructive responses from the other writers. Each person will have a chance to share. If time allows, we can talk about ideas for having work published or other poets work we are enjoying.
