MINIMUM FINANCIAL REQUIREMENTS
To obtain your visa document, you will need to submit online, proof of your ability to pay for your expenses for your first year of study at UCSB. Below is the minimum financial requirement that you will need to provide documentation for, depending on your level of study. The amount includes the estimated tuition, fees and living expenses for one year.
Undergraduate students $52,849.65 (select for details)
Graduate students $45,598.23 (select for details)
NOTE: If any dependents requiring the dependent visa status (F-2 or J-2) will join you, you will need to add $4,000 to the above figure for your spouse, as well as another $2,000 for each child that accompanies you to UCSB.
- ACCEPTABLE FINANCIAL DOCUMENTATION
Financial documentation is required only AFTER you have received Admission to UCSB and you have submitted your Statement of Intention to Register (SIR). Once these two conditions are true, you should submit your financial documents to OISS as instructed further below. Any of the following forms of financial documentation will be acceptable:
Personal/Family/Friend Funding: Complete the Financial Statement form and submit it along with supporting financial documents as instructed on the form. Please note that supporting documents are not necessary IF you obtain a signature from a bank official as well as an official bank seal directly on the Financial Statement.
UCSB Funding (such as academic department support, EAP, etc): If you will receive funding from your department, submit a copy of the department award letter.
Government/Agency Funding (such as CONACYT): If you will be financially sponsored by your government or another agency, submit a copy of your award letter.

If you are currently in F-1 or J-1 status attending another U.S. college or university, you will also need to submit copies of the following documents:
- Your Current I-20
- Passport Page
- Passport Visa Page
- I-94 Card

Documents should be submitted to OISS online. In order to log in, you will need to know your UCSB NetID and Password. You will then be able submit your personal information, upload your financial documents and select a mailing option to receive your visa document.
