OISS supports the right of any person, including international students and scholars, to choose to protest peacefully.

If you choose to protest:

  1. It is important to follow directions from law enforcement officers at the location.
  2. Please leave the location immediately if the protest turns violent, altercations occur, or ordered by law enforcement to disperse. Likewise, please note that any arrest by law enforcement may have legal implications.
  3. We encourage you to know important telephone numbers in the unfortunate event of an arrest, including that of your local home country consulate/embassy and the A.S. Legal Resource Center: (805) 893-4246. Please email OISS as soon as possible after any interaction with law enforcement.
