Financial Help

Sudden expenses can arise. Don't panic! There are several places on campus that offer loans to students facing a financial emergency.

The UCSB Financial Crisis Response Team that can help students identify resources. In order to apply for emergency funding, please first email FinancialCrisis@sa.ucsb.edu. Allow 2-3 days for a response.

OISS offers an International Student Award in April of each year. This is for emergency need (such as unforeseen medical expenses) or unexpected hardship. Apply by March 31.

Associated Students offers short-term emergency loans to undergraduate students.

The Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships offers some additional loan options.

The UCSB Alumni Association also offers emergency loans.

Graduate students can apply for a GSA Emergency Relief Grant.

The UCSB Student Medical Emergency Relief Fund (SMERF) / Jack Canfield Chicken Soup for the Soul exists to assist UCSB students with medically related emergencies.
